Alex Cross was a rising star in the Washington DC police department, when an unknown shooter gunned down his wife in front of him. Alex's need for vengeance had to be placed on hold as he faced the challenge of raising his children. Years later, Alex has left the FBI and set up in practice again as a psychologist. Then his former partner calls in a favour and asks him to assist in obtaining the testimonies of a serial rapist who terrifies his victims with horrifying photographs, so that they are too scared to talk about him. When the case triggers a connection to his wife's death, Alex may have a chance to catch her murderer after all these years.
