Lucy and her friends Alfred, Sam and Milstone must complete six Inimitable Missions to prevent Shadow Lord Jaldabaz from destroying the Empire. The Tree of Knowledge tells Lucy what her third mission is and the friends move on. Meanwhile, the situation in the Empire becomes increasingly grim. Jaldabaz and his Legion advance further; his troops march through the streets of Biedelberg and the Anthroponites are everywhere. The Hart Stone's power is dwindling fast and the responsibility to save the Empire weighs heavily on Lucy's shoulders. She cannot help but look the darkness in the eye. Will she manage to keep seeing the light?
