Martin Eden

A semi-autobiographical novel, Martin Eden tells the story of a writer working to achieve recognition. When he finally finds fame he becomes disillusioned. Not only does he come to realize that the woman he was working so hard to impress isn ́t worth the effort after all, but he feels that he has failed his true self. Dejected, he leaves for the South Seas, where the unthinkable happens.
