It's been about eighteen months since I last read one of Lauren Carr's 'Mac Faraday' crime stories so I was delighted to have this opportunity to read and review the brand new installment in the series, Shadow Of Murder. Each novel has a self-contained crime case and this one centres on famous true crime blogger, Erica Hart, as she returns to Deep Creek Lake and her family's home there which she last saw years earlier when her parents were viciously murdered during a burglary. In common with previous Mac Faraday novels I have read, Carr breaks genre boundaries by not just telling readers about the case at hand, but also including a wide cast of supporting characters, several of whom I recognised from earlier books, so Shadow Of Murder was as much about the town's inhabitants and their relationships to each other.
