I felt as though I had left it too long since last reading a poetry collection and a quick glance at my reviews showed that almost three months have gone by since Nicole Nesca's Let It Bleed. Because of this I was delightful to find that Letter To Country - which I downloaded on a whim from Smashwords - contains many beautifully crafted poems with amazingly vivid imagery. I loved envisaging scenes and people from Lesotho and South Africa and the Appalachian region of America. As a man living in exile from his homeland, Masilo imbues his poems with such a strong sense of nostalgia that some are heartbreaking to read. He also has a striking turn of phrase able to concisely impart an idea or impression to his readers. Letter To Country is an extensive collection that includes nearly sixty poems.
