The stories are diverse in style, ranging from whodunnits to sci-fi, romance to family drama, comedy to tragedy, and cover a range of solution types from high-tech to nature-based solutions, to more systemic aspects relating to our culture and political economy.

No More Fairy Tales is a thought-provoking, intense anthology of tales each linked by the theme of their potential solutions to the climate crisis. What I particularly liked about the collection is that, while no one story claims to have all the answers, the way in which they link together meant I came away from reading the book with a sense that we might still have a chance to avoid total disaster. The myriad ideas range from planting sea kelp forests and mangroves to resurrecting coral reefs and protecting whale populations. There are examples of dedicated individual efforts and of steering corporate mindsets, and all these approaches together might just do the trick.

I think everyone could get behind some of the ideas mooted here, even if not all of them appeal to every reader, and a central idea of us all having our part to play is very powerful. …
