Arjan Boltjes recenzis Panter de Brecht Evens
Beautifully made, but rather messed up

The second work that I read from Evens, the first being "Het Amusement" (apparently translated into English as "The City of Belgium"), and the style is immediately recognizable. Beautifully made, using different combinations of colours for different settings. The chameleon-like different representations of 'panther' are gold, as are all kinds of details like lines running through objects from time to time, the use of colour combinations, the lettering, ..., and of course the story itself.

Is this fantasy gone dark or simply a fantastic representation of something real? As with "Het Amusement", there are multiple interpretations possible here, although most of them will border uneasiness. There are plenty interpretations out there, if you go out reading reviews or perhaps an interview with the author. But "best" is to read it yourself if you're still up to it. Recommended.
