A lovely romance (especially for K-drama fans)

Twelve Hours In Manhattan is such a lovely feel-good romance novel which had me feeling cheered by its reading all the way through. Thanks to a chance meeting in a Manhattan bar, Bianca and Eric learn of each other's existences and spend a wonderful twelve hour night together in New York City. This is the first part of this three-part novel and I loved how vividly Maan Gabriel evokes the magical atmosphere of New York. I have never visited the city myself, but I could imagine everything Bianca saw and heard, as well as the way she and Eric felt together. They are very much ships in the night at this point, but I could completely believe in the depth of their connection.
Bianca is an avid fan of Korean dramas, her enthusiasm for which comes through strongly at several points in the novel. I understand Gabriel's fandom equals Bianca's …

Bianca is an avid fan of Korean dramas, her enthusiasm for which comes through strongly at several points in the novel. I understand Gabriel's fandom equals Bianca's so I think Twelve Hours In Manhattan would be a good choice for other K-drama fans, but also for fans of fairytale retellings as there are hints of the Cinderella story underpinning Twelve Hours. While the romance aspect is obviously vital to this novel, I also really appreciated the prominence given to good, supportive friendships within the story. I felt Gabriel's depictions of the shifting dynamics in this friendship group were so brilliant. Everyone has their role to play, but they also felt like very real people making authentic choices.
I probably would not have picked up Twelve Hours In Manhattan had it not been for its WorldReads authorship, however I am now delighted that I did so. I loved the vivid New York scenes, the real world problems that Bianca has to surmount and, of course, the heart-warming Happily Ever After!
