An exciting international thriller

I wasn't sure what to expect from Finding Ruby Draker, having not read any of Marianne Scott's writing before, so I was pleasantly surprised to find myself gripped by this novel. The story is told in the first person by an understandably bewildered Ruby / Kathleen who struggles to adapt to a totally different lifestyle in a house full of strangers who keep insisting they are her family now. The setup was such an intriguing premise that I had to keep on reading to find out how everything would resolve itself.

I liked Ruby as a person and could empathise with her uncertainty at trusting the people who, from her perspective, had abducted her from her home, burning down though it was.
