Stephanie Jane recenzis Children de Bjørn Larssen
Entertaining Norse retelling
4 steloj
Children is a bit of an epic in its own right, as well as being the first novel in Bjørn Larssen's Ten Worlds series. It recounts part of the Norse myth of Thor's son, Magni, as well as introducing another fascinating character, Freya's foster daughter, Maya. While, overall, I did find Children to be a bit long for my tastes - I'm rarely a fan of a big book - I was kept interested and entertained by Larssen's storytelling. I have only a basic knowledge of Norse mythology but didn't find that negatively affected my enjoyment of Children, although no doubt I overlooked some moments through not being aware of their deeper significance. I'm glad I got around to reading Children and will probably also buy its sequel, Land, at some point in the future too.
