Bones Of The Redeemed is a fast-paced action thriller which begins when Ruby Delgado walks out of the desert onto the site of a New Mexico archaeological dig, her unreliable car having packed up some three miles earlier. Ruby is impetuous and has a dangerous habit of leaping into situations without properly checking them out first so it's not long before she has not only upset her prickly supervisor, but also landed in a pile of decomposing human corpses! Ruby's perpetual lack of care was quite irritating especially as she is meant to be a martial arts expert so I would have expected that discipline to have taught her an element of patience, however her recklessness means the narrative itself is propelled along at a breathtaking pace.

I would have liked more depth to the characters in order to really understand why they chose certain paths and behaved as they …
