Stephanie Jane recenzis MAGIC CLOGS de Stjepan Varesevac Cobets
Fairytale vibes
3 steloj
Magic Clogs is the first of two and a half short stories in this ebook, the others being Clare, The Small Frog and the first half of Joseph The Giant. The stories are nicely written in a style which is ideal for reading aloud and all three feel like traditional tales, albeit lighter than, say, Grimm fairytales which can go to some pretty dark places. Neither of Cobets' lead characters, Antonio and Clare, face any real opposition in their quests and Joseph the giant seemed to be doing just fine at the point where his story peters out too. (It might all go south for him in the second installment of course, but I don't know where that story concludes.) I did feel that the stories might have been better published in individual illustrated volumes as they seem intended for a very young audience who would appreciate accompanying pictures although …

I did feel that the stories might have been better published in individual illustrated volumes as they seem intended for a very young audience who would appreciate accompanying pictures although I understand that the tales were originally created as bedtime tales for the author's daughter so I guess that a parental performance (there's lots of different animal voices to attempt in Clare, The Small Frog) would be just as entertaining.
