Stephanie Jane recenzis Bon Voyage to Murder de C S McDonald
Pleasantly entertaining

I've enjoyed reading two of C S McDonald's 'Owl's Nest' series books recently so was pleased to also be offered the chance to sample this novel, Bon Voyage To Murder, which is a part of her 'Fiona Quinn' series. The book is the eighth in its series so Fiona and her sleuthing partner, Nathan Landry, are already well-established characters. I did feel as though I missed out on understanding their personalities, although I did love McDonald's animated portrayals of the people involved in this particular mystery. The bitchy warring between former country and western singers, Dusty and Cassidy, is often hilarious, but tinged with the poignancy of these women not coping well with the decline in their respective careers.
I was less enamoured with a minor storyline about Fiona's brother, supposedly left caring for her dog during the course of the Caribbean cruise. I couldn't see what this diversion added …

I was less enamoured with a minor storyline about Fiona's brother, supposedly left caring for her dog during the course of the Caribbean cruise. I couldn't see what this diversion added to the novel. The onboard mystery was pleasantly entertaining though. Bon Voyage To Murder is suitable for teenage readers so I didn't have to worry about being suddenly confronted with a grim murder scene and, in fact, I liked how far through the story we got before the death occurs. It made a refreshing change to be kept waiting to see who would be despatched!
