In this insightful and timely essay, Robbins has put his finger on what feels wrong with much of British politics in the 2010s. He covers a wide panorama of linked topics including exploring the disaffection of voters excluded by our voting system, the increased bullying and blame of our society's weakest members, and how our increasing face-to-face isolation from each other reduces our ability both to argue constructively and to appreciate each other's points of view. Such Little Accident is far from just a litany of complaint though. Robbins discusses how we have come to our present position and also how we can retrace our steps back from the abyss. He offers a vision of a country in which democracy could actually work again. It just requires a little action and belief from everyone and I wonder what it will take to make this country care?
